Edit: I changed the file with the new buttons I originally intended to have. I must have forgotten to save it or something. HA.
I also changed the font of the body text to Utsaah from Verdana to try and get a better overall feel.
This here is going to be the new look to my website alottadesign.com
I have been working on this off an on for the past year.. and it's been pretty hit and miss. My current site looks too plain, but I think this really livens it up a bit.
I have been thinking about a background color aside from white.. what would you recommend?

Looks nice! Livened up indeed, but still minimalistic, I'm a big fan of that 
Though I'm not the best person to advice with colour 
I would advice linking them to your da gallery rather than front page.
And the links could use some styling - though having them look the same as normal text fits the minimalistic feel. Maybe have them change colour upon hoovering?
